I'm married to a wonderful woman, and we share a nice little house with our daughter and our cats.
I'm a humanist, a technologist, an artist, and an idealist. I believe in reason, freedom, love, equality,
and democracy. (Did I mention that I'm
an idealist? I did, OK.)
I'm also a pragmatist and an empiricist. I reject ideology and dogma, especially when they conflict with
practical facts (i.e., pretty much always). I particularly hate willful ignorance, which tends to go hand-in-hand
with ideology and dogma.

Who's the Flip-Flopper?
The Daily Kos has this terrific article which details the flip-flops of George W. Bush. Bush is trying to make the case that John Kerry is a crazy waffler. I think it's a stupid game to get into -- I don't happen to think that changing your mind is necessarily a sign of weakness or lack of integrity, and it's not clear in any case that Kerry's done all the changing he's accused of -- but if Bush wants to play that game, he's just as vulnerable to the charge as Kerry is.
